We were looking at your website because our father was the patrolman that was shot in Butler, AL.  I (Tammy) was the only one that was born at the time.  At the time of the incident I was only 2yrs old.  We just wanted to let you know that he is doing well.  He retired from the Butler Police Dept. in 1997.  He is currently working with the Sheriff's Dept. here.  Though he has limited use of his left arm, he still manages to do the things that he loves.  We hope that this little information helps you.  If you need anything else please feel free to email us.

FYI:  I (Tammy) am 23, Jessica is 16, and Cassie is 18.  We also have a 19 and two 40yr old brothers as well as a sister that is 41.  One of the brothers is also in law enforcement.

Dear Mr. Schulze,

I just wanted to thank you for replying to the email that my sisters and I sent you.

Although I was only two at the time, I can very well remember the years that he spent in a cast.  If I do remember correctly he stayed in a cast for about 3 years after the incident. I do feel though that not many people understand what my family went through because of this.  My dad has limited use of his arm and not everyone understands that.

I guess what makes me so upset is that people just don't understand the danger that you and he are living with everyday.  Although all he really does now is serve municipal papers, he still puts his life in danger everyday he puts that badge on.

I am glad to know that you are well after your ordeal and I am also glad that you are still doing something that you very much love to do.  I really don't know what my daddy would do today if he was told he could not work in law enforcement anymore.  Although he does say he is going to retire soon, I still do not believe him. Ha Ha.

I do have some newspaper clippings left from when I made him a scrapbook. He had several copies of each paper.  If you would like me to send you some just let me know. You can email if you would like and give me your address or I can give them to Mr. Don if you would like.

I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate people like you who try to let the public the reign of terror that these two men put on this family along with the others.
